GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Veterans Day is next week and several events are being held and discounts are being offered in celebration of America’s veterans.

EVENTS:

Greenville County

  • Greenville Veteran Art Show and Info Fair – This local veterans art show will be held on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will provide information about Veteran Service Organizations.
  • Fountain Inn Veterans Day Celebration – This program and luncheon will take place at the Activities Center Gym at 610 Fairview Street on Friday, Nov. 8 at 11:00 a.m. Jim Kvam, Immediate Past Commander of The American Legion Department of South Carolina will be speaking while the Upstate Senior Band presents patriotic selections. A free catered BBQ lunch will follow the program.
  • A Salute to Our Veterans – The Children’s Museum of the Upstate will be giving veterans and active-duty military and their families free admission from Nov. 8-10. Guests must present military identification to receive free admission.
  • Upstate Salute – A concert will be held at Fluor Field on Nov. 10, beginning at 5 p.m. and will feature displays from local Veteran organizations and sponsors, a vintage warbirds flyover and other military programming, singer Larry Fleet, and a patriotic fireworks show.

Spartanburg County

  • Veterans Day Monument Dedication Ceremony – The ceremony will be held at Veteran’s Pointe Memorial Park in Duncan Park beginning at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. The monument will honor all ill and injured veterans who served their country faithfully. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
  • Veterans Day Parade – The annual parade is hosted by hosted by the Spartanburg County Frank Montgomery Chapter 3 Disabled American Veterans and will take place on Nov. 11, beginning at 4 p.m. The route will begin at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church before heading down Church Street and ending at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.

Anderson County

  • Veteran’s Parade – The annual parade will be held on South McDuffie Street on Nov. 10, starting at 3 p.m.
  • Remember & Honor: Veterans Family & Friends Event – This event honoring veterans will be held at The Universal Unity Ranch on Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature horseback riding, games, karaoke, music and food and costs $10 for adults and $5 for children age seven and older.

Cherokee County

  • Veterans Day Celebration and Concert – This event will take place at The Cherokee County Veterans Appreciation Park in Gaffney, beginning at 11 a.m. on Nov. 12 with a free concert from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. featuring the Carolina Highway Band. Inflatables, food and drink vendors and arts and crafts vendors will also be at the event.

Western North Carolina

  • Veterans Appreciation Dinner – This meal will be served in the dining hall at the Department on Aging on Nov. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A reservation is required to attend the dinner.
  • Veterans Day Parade Downtown Columbus – This parade in Downtown Columbus begins at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 11. It will be followed by a Memorial Service in Veterans Park.
  • Free Veterans Day Lunch – Columbus Baptist Church in Columbus will be having a free lunch for veterans and their families in the afternoon after the Memorial Service on Nov. 11. Take-out will also be available.
  • Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony – The parade will be held in Franklin on Nov. 11 with the lineup beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at Franklin Town Hall. The ceremony will include special music and speakers speakers along with a wreath laying ceremony.
  • Veterans Day Ceremony – This event will be held at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. Sa’eed Mustafa, a retired Command Sergeant Major will be the keynote speaker.
  • Veterans Day Parade – The parade will be held in the Town of Black Mountain on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. and will include JROTC, marching bands, Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion, several dignitaries, several Boy/Girl Scout Troops, military vehicles, bagpipes, and more. The parade will travel from East State Street to North Dougherty at the Black Mountain Library.

Georgia

  • Veterans Day Parade – This parade will be held in Hartwell on Nov. 10 beginning at 3 p.m. at Hart County High School.

Discounts:

Academy Sports + Outdoors – Veterans, active duty military and first responders are eligible for 10% off their entire purchase online or in-store until Nov. 11.
