It had been a decade since the Pinelands Regional girls cross-country team landed two runners among the top 12 during the NJSIAA South Jersey sectional meet. Rory Krier and Summer Sprague ended the Wildcats’ drought on Nov. 2.
“My goal was to finish somewhere within 19 minutes,” said Krier, the Pinelands freshman who recorded a time of 20 minutes, 20.10 seconds to place ninth overall in SJ Group 2 at DREAM Park in Logan Township. “I knew the only way I could do that was through God’s strength, and I almost reached that goal today.”
Krier positioned herself near the front of the pack early and maintained a solid pace through the first mile, even though several of Haddonfield’s runners asserted themselves as the clear leaders. Krier powered through the 2-mile mark still in great shape to make the top 10, while Sprague used the second mile to inch her way up to the 13th spot…
