SIOUX CITY — Two district residents renewed calls this week for Sioux City school board member Dan Greenwell to resign.
Kristie VerMulm McManamy and Heath Weber each addressed the board at its regular meeting Monday, expressing concerns about board members retaliating against district residents for speaking out about the search for a new superintendent.
“It is in my opinion, and that of many others with whom I have conferred, that it would be in the best interest of our school district and our community search for a new superintendent if you [Greenwell] would resign from the school board,” McManamy said. “It would give school employees and the community at least some hope that they will not be retaliated against for having an opinion that differs with yours.”
In response to McManamy’s comments, Greenwell asked her who received the most votes in the last school board election and the one proceeding that.
