Two Lubbock ISD schools go blue, as big sister works to raise diabetes awareness

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – While the Westerners’ colors are black and gold, several students showed up to Lubbock High School decked out in blue Thursday.

The sea of blue spread to Evans Middle School, as a big and little sister in the district work to raise awareness about diabetes.

Lyla Hoelscher wore a blue shirt, a blue ribbon in her hair, blue eyeshadow and even wore blue nails to school this World Diabetes Day. She wanted to surprise her little sister, Lucy, who has type 1 diabetes. She reached out to the Lubbock High student council, which encouraged the whole school to get involved…
