A number of emergency service agencies responded to a report of a kite surfer in danger near Scotts Creek Beach just north of Davenport on Tuesday.
Crews from the Santa Cruz Fire Department (SCFD), Cal Fire’s CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit, California State Parks, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response and the U.S. Coast Guard all flocked to the scene of the distressed kite surfer.
According to a City of Santa Cruz release, the individual was visible in the water upon arrival, and rescue swimmers from SCFD entered the water and made their way to the surfer. Meanwhile, a Coast Guard aircrew flew in and deployed its own rescue swimmer. The kite surfer was successfully brought into the helicopter and flown to shore without injury…
