Alma Cooper Crowned Miss USA 2024

Alma Cooper, a US Army officer and West Point graduate, was crowned Miss USA 2024 on August 4th. She is the first Afro-Latina woman to win the title.

From Pageant Dreams to Miss USA

Cooper has dreamed of competing in Miss USA since childhood. She competed in Miss Michigan Teen USA in 2016 and 2017, placing second in the latter.

Overcoming Challenges

Despite financial constraints, Cooper worked to pay her own pageant fees. She attended West Point and graduated in the top 5% of her class in 2023.

Courage and Ambition

Cooper credits West Point with instilling in her the courage and ambition necessary for both the military and pageantry. She believes that personal courage is essential for both endeavors.

Using Her Platform

As Miss USA, Cooper aims to amplify the voices of marginalized individuals. She believes that her story proves that anything is possible with hard work and determination.

Representing the US at Miss Universe

Cooper will represent the US at the Miss Universe finals in Mexico City on November 16th. She will be the first American woman to win Miss Universe since R’Bonney Gabriel in 2023.
