Community Foundation of Crawford County recognizes philanthropists

The Spirit of Philanthropy Award was presented to Dr. Joe and Sue Shadeed.

BUCYRUS — Every year, The Community Foundation for Crawford County accepts nominations for their Spirit of Philanthropy award, which is given to a person or entity who gives back to our community – usually with both monetary gifts and their time and service.

This year, they awarded the Spirit of Philanthropy Award to Dr. Joe and Sue Shadeed. Last year’s award recipient, Dr. Pete Maynard, presented the 2024 award during the Foundation’s Evening of Philanthropy event, which this year was held Nov. 14 at Spot’s Rolling Bean in Crestline.

“Joe and Sue’s community service runs deep throughout this community,” said Lisa Workman, the Foundation’s President. “Between the two of them, their involvement has included the Salvation Army, Avita Health’s Board and Auxiliary, the Bucyrus School Board, the NCSC Crawford Success Center, Projects, Inc., their church choir, the Foundation – where they have been volunteers and donors AND started two funds, and many, many more…
