Mosswood Meltdown to feature iconic new wave group and viral Oakland rapper

Mosswood Meltdown, Oakland’s preeminent punk rock music festival, will be back next summer, with longtime emcee John Waters and beloved new wave band Devo booked to return. Punk rockers, and other assorted weirdos, will descend on Oakland’s Mosswood Park for the two-day fest on July 19 and 20.

Known for their iconic energy dome hats, Devo formed in the 1970s, reaching superstardom in the 1980s with the release of “Whip It,” which became one of the decade’s quintessential songs. Devo last played the festival in 2018 (they performed in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre for their “ final tour ” in November 2023).

Along with their stop at Mosswood Meltdown, Devo are joining My Chemical Romance for the emo band’s upcoming tour…
