In 2022, the New Mexico Legislature unanimously adopted a bill to kick-start uranium mine reclamation efforts, creating a revolving fund to help pay for cleanup around the state.

But two years later, the fund’s balance remains at zero — despite interest from lawmakers in getting the work done…
