A man described by authorities as a gang member was sentenced Friday to 19 years to life for the shooting death of a single mother who was stopped at a traffic light in the Manchester Square area of South Los Angeles.
James Spencer, now 27, pleaded no contest last month on the eve of his trial to second-degree murder for the April 26, 2020, killing of 28-year-old Magali Alberto. He also admitted a gun allegation.
