SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The man convicted of killing a Sacramento police officer has avoided the death penalty for now after a judge declared a mistrial in his sentencing due to a hung jury.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office said a jury was split 11-1 on the death penalty sentence for Adel Ramos, who was convicted of shooting and killing Tara O’Sullivan in 2019.
O’Sullivan was fatally shot while helping a woman gather her belongings during a domestic disturbance call in North Sacramento. She was 26 when she died…
