The system that brought us rain and wind Friday is moving away, setting up a nice weekend. We’ll warm up into the low 60s Saturday afternoon with mostly sunny skies. It will be a little breezy in spots Saturday, especially at the coastline.
Sunday – another nice day of weather is expected with temps in the mid 60s and mostly sunny skies. Some high level cirrus clouds move in for the end of the day, but nothing to worry about overall.
Some impacts from the tides can be expected Saturday morning – but not as much as Friday morning. The tide forecast for Sewell’s Point is around 5ft, which is in the minor flood stage category. Some overwash of NC 12 in the southern OBX near the Pea Island Visitor Center will also be possible Saturday morning. Isolated overwash is possible around high tide Saturday evening/Sunday morning.
Heading into the work week, our local weather looks dry for at least the first half of next week. Temps will warm into the upper 60s, near 70 in spots. A few showers will be possible Wednesday into Thursday as a front approaches. This will bring us cooler air for Thu/Fri. In the mountains of VA/WV – there will even be snow!
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Sara is bringing flooding rain to Honduras. It’s stationary at this time. The leftovers of the system will drift northward into the Gulf of Mexico sometime early next week. We’re not too concerned here at home, but we’ll keep a close eye on the system.
