According to the National Weather Service in San Francisco, San Francisco Bay Area residents can expect cool temperatures and clear skies to persist today. The weather bulletin issued in the early hours of the morning details that highs will be in the 50s to around 60 degrees, creating a beautiful fall-like day ahead. However, as the sun sets, those clear skies will coincide with a significant drop in temperature that could lead to widespread frosts and freezing conditions in certain areas, including the southern Salinas Valley.
As NWS San Francisco reports, “There is about a 60% chance of seeing low temps below 32F in the North Bay valleys, 60-70% for the Santa Cruz Mtns and San Benito county, and 80-90% for the southern Salinas Valley and interior Monterey county.” These chilly conditions necessitate precautions, and the NWS Bay Area X post reminds locals to take care of “the people, pets, plants and pipes in your life” over the weekend, reinforcing the importance of preparing for the freeze.
