EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, emergency crews were dispatched to locate a missing kayaker on Lower Mill Pond.
According to police, two Blandford men were kayaking on Saturday, enjoying the warm weather, when one person fell out of the kayak into the water. Despite efforts to rescue him, the 25-year-old’s body was recovered around 5:15 p.m. by a member of the Western Mass, Regional Dive Team.
“We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. It is never easy to tell a family you’ve recovered a body, let alone before the holidays,” said Sheriff Nick Cocchi. “But I’m proud of our Marine Patrol Unit, all the responding agencies and the Regional Dive Team for jumping into action so quickly.”…
