A Search That Ended in Heartbreak
MacDonaldâs family reported him missing around 7:30 p.m. last Wednesday after he failed to return from a planned day hike near the Paradise Park Trail in Mt. Hood National Forest. The last contact with him was at 2 p.m. that afternoon. Family members told authorities he had a strong love for hiking but was not equipped for subfreezing temperatures.
In response, the Clackamas County Sheriffâs Office launched what it described as an âextensive search and rescue operationâ in the area.
