Allegheny County Commits $114 Million to Senior Care Services in 2025 Budget

In a recent push to bolster services for the county’s older population, Allegheny County has laid out a substantial financial plan for 2025, earmarking critical funding for care services that cater to the needs of seniors and caregivers alike. Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato, flanked by key figures from various community sectors, unveiled a proposed budget that plows $114 million into crucial care, highlighting an approach to reinforce safety nets and fortify staff support at county-owned living centers.

According to an Allegheny County press release, Innamorato’s emphasis on shoring up resources in the face of private nursing home closures and an aging county demographic with almost 20 percent aged 65 and over, the necessity for dedicated investment in healthcare, housing, and vital services cannot be understated. “By strengthening our Kane Centers, supporting union jobs, and funding programs that allow people to age in their communities, we’re building a safer, more supportive Allegheny County for everyone,” Innamorato told the press.
