Mary Washington men’s soccer fans had to wait a bit longer than expected on Sunday for a goal, but sure enough, that goal came off the foot of midfielder Jordy Santana in the 88th minute.
The Eagles had been knocking on the door all day in their second round NCAA tournament match against Ohio Wesleyan, but despite a herculean effort from the Bishops, No. 1 UMW broke through.
“I think Joel (Albritton) had the ball out on the left and he served it in,” Santana said. “The ball just popped out to the top of the box and they were leaving me free there all game. … As soon as I saw it hit the net, I’m not even sure what happened after that.”…
