WURTSBORO – Representatives from the State Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) should expect to see a sea of green at Wednesday night’s public open house in Wurtsboro to discuss the future of Exit 114 on Route 17.
Those who support Exit 114 remaining open will be wearing green t-shirts to show solidarity for keeping the exit open. The scoping session is set for 5 p.m. at Emma Chase Elementary School, located at 28 Pennsylvania Avenue.
“The green represents the color of the Exit (114) sign and is a visual for where we stand,” said Kelly DeGuzman, vice president of the Wurtsboro Board of Trade. “By wearing green, we are making our stance clear and showing our numbers. Our message is that closing Exit 114 would hurt our small businesses and make it more difficult for first responders to respond to emergencies. We have a lot of support from a lot of local officials.”…
