The Amarillo College Board of Regents will be holding the second of two interviews with the presidential finalists in closed session this week. Board members will gather for the closed meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday in AC’s College Union Building, 2nd Floor, Palo Duro Board Room at 2201 S. Washington St., to interview Dr. Jamelle Conner. No action will be taken at this meeting, and the call to order and adjournment will be the only topics that will be livestreamed. The regents interviewed the other finalist candidate, Dr. Frank Sobey, last week.
Then on Tuesday, the AC board will meet for its status update at 5:45 p.m., followed by its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Palo Duro Room on the Washington Street campus. The live stream link is https://info.actx.edu/BOR .
During the status meeting, the board will hear reports on the executive committee, presidential search, AC Foundation, Amarillo Museum of Art, Panhandle PBS, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones and more. Other updates include those from Standing Policies & Procedures, Finance, Legislative Affairs and Nominating committees and the Community College Association of Texas Trustees. They’ll also discuss the HSI STEM Grant: internships and the employability forum and No Excuses 2025. During their regular meeting, the AC board will go over items including an order for annexation, independent audit report, faculty promotion in rank recommendations, nominations for the appraisal district board, the purchase of two buses and the college presidential search.
