First Alert Forecast: ‘Alert Day’ issued for Thursday due to periods of wet snow, strong wind

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Off and on rain showers are expected this evening into Tuesday morning, with perhaps a quarter of an inch or so of rain as a result. If we’re really lucky (and we’re being optimistic here given recent trends!) we might even see a partly sunny afternoon, though it will be breezy at times with wind gusts up to 25 mph

A stronger, winter-like weather system is expected to barrel into the Great Lakes region midweek and bring rain initially (midday Wednesday), followed by a blast of cold air and wet snow into Thursday, which has prompted a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY to be issued. There are still some timing discrepancies, but right now this is what we are tracking:

  • MIDDAY WEDNESDAY: Rain increases with occasional wind gusts over 30 mph. Temperatures near 50º.
  • WEDNESDAY EVENING: We dry back out, but temperatures rapidly drop along with continued strong wind gusts. Temperatures could be in the 30s before…
