After losing 28-14 to Georgia Southern on Oct. 19, JMU’s (8-2, 4-2 Sun Belt) odds to win the Sun Belt East fell with the Dukes in the conference — dropping to fourth in the East after the loss.

But after three straight wins, JMU has positioned itself to make a late-season push for the East. On Saturday, the Dukes beat division-foe ODU in a must-win matchup. Behind strong defense in the second half, JMU defeated the Monarchs 35-32.

JMU allowed ODU to take a 24-21 lead at the end of the first half but didn’t allow the Monarchs to score again until there were just 58 seconds left in the game. The Dukes held ODU’s redshirt freshman quarterback Colton Joseph to just five completions during the second half…
