Syracuse received an early commitment from 2025 Mesquite (TX) Dallas Christian quarterback Luke Carney during this cycle. Carney committed to the Orange back in March following a stellar junior season. He was named Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Private School QB of the Year after throwing for 3,723 yards and rushing for 843 yards with an 80% completion rate and a 47:6 TD/INT ratio, leading Dallas Christian to a TAPPS Division III state title. Carney had a strong senior season as well, completing 76.2% of his passes while throwing for 2,112 yards with 761 more on the ground averaging 13.1 yards per carry. He also had 33 total touchdowns to just one interception.
Carney has been one of the most productive quarterbacks in Texas throughout his high school career and that resulted in him being named a Blue-Grey High School All American.
After his strong regular season this year, Carney has now eclipsed over 10,000 passing yards and 13,000 total yards during his high school career. His record as a starter is 47-5. His high school career is not quite over yet, however, as playoffs begin this Friday…
