MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard wasn’t messing around when he said his team would be tested by UT-Rio Grande Valley. Immediately following the Badgers’ upset win over No. 9 Arizona on Friday, Gard made sure his team quickly turned the page to the Vaqueros, who previously gave Nebraska and Creighton just about all they could handle.
As Gard anticipated, it wasn’t easy, but UW (5-0) held off an upset big from UTRGV (3-3), hanging on for an 87-84 win on a game that came down to the last possession.
“It’s what you fear when you watch them on tape,” Gardt told reporters on Monday. “They get some confidence and how difficult they can be to guard when they get the 3’s going. I’ve watched them against everybody else and they’ve done a lot of the same things to everyone else…
