MONROE, La. ( KTVE/KARD ) – Since February, University of Louisiana Monroe juni or Kelly Lohman has been working on a way to spread mental health awareness via a coloring book.
Recently, Lohman’s hard work paid off after she published her first coloring book titled Loving My Mind on Amazon. According to Kelly, she created the interactive book to make a small impact on the community and the campus. KTVE/KARD spoke to Lohman about the goal of her new publication.
The whole mission is just to promote positive thinking and raise mental health awareness especially like in children and college age students. So many people are struggling with mental health and they aren’t getting the resources that they need. So this is just one step in the right direction.

Lohman will be competing in the Miss University of Louisiana Monroe Scholarship Competition on November 23, 2024, and she expressed her excitement to share the book and its message as part of her community service initiative. She is also involved with the university’s Campus Activity Board (CAB) and worked closely with the Student Activity Board Coordinator, Sidney Jones, to create and publish her coloring book.
