A strong weather system sweeping through New Mexico is set to bring brisk winds and colder temperatures Tuesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Albuquerque reported diminishing northwest winds Monday evening, but a colder disturbance will drive another round of gusty conditions, particularly in the northern mountains and central highlands.
High Wind Warnings are in effect for areas like Clines Corners, where gusts of 55-65 mph were recorded. A Wind Advisory has also been issued for Tuesday, with potential expansions to include the Sangre de Cristo and Sandia/Manzano mountains.
Temperatures will bottom out midweek, running 5-15 degrees below normal. However, relief arrives Thursday as high pressure brings milder weather and lighter winds, before stronger gusts return over the weekend.
