POUGHKEEPSIE – Former Dutchess County Assistant District Attorney Cindy Murphy has proceeded with her plan to sue her former employer by filing a lawsuit against Dutchess County and District Attorney Anthony Parisi. The lawsuit was filed in the Dutchess County Supreme Court on Sunday.
Murphy was one of three prosecutors terminated in January, along with Bob Knapp and Kristine Whelan. All three served notices of claims but Murphy is the only one to file a lawsuit.
Murphy and Knapp went to work for the Ulster County District Attorney following their departure from Dutchess County. Whelan went to work for a DA in one of the five boroughs. Both Knapp and Whelan have since taken positions with the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
