NEWBURGH – An oversight committee of the Orange County Legislature Monday approved $4 million in federal funding for reconstruction of the Newburgh Landing pier on the Hudson River.
Newburgh Mayor Torrance Harvey said when constructed in the years ago come, it will be a major asset to the city.
“Everybody is going to love it; everyone is going to enjoy it. We’re going to have river cruises; we are going to be able to hopefully get some Caribbean cruises potentially here because we have a deep-water port in the City of Newburgh,” he said. “Newburgh has a long history of being a shipping town on the west bank of the Hudson going back to the early 19th and 20th centuries.”…
