Connecticut residents may notice ‘strong’ smoke smell due to Massachusetts fire

CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — Residents in Connecticut may notice a strong smoke smell and haze in the air caused by a large fire in Great Barrington, Mass., Tuesday morning.

According to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the smoke from the fire is traveling southward and residents across Connecticut as far as New Haven may notice the smell.

The smoke is spreading widely because of the weather conditions and is remaining close to the ground, which makes the smell more noticeable, DEEP officials said.
