Nitro-St. Albans bridge to fully reopen on I-64

KANAWHA/PUTNAM COUNTIES, WV (WOWK) – A road construction project years in the making has finally come to fruition in Kanawha County.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation and West Virginia Governor Jim Justice will host a dedication ceremony Tuesday for the new Nitro-St. Albans bridges on I-64. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m., and WOWK will add a live stream player to this article just before the event starts.

The first of the two new bridges was completed in 2022 . Once the ribbon-cutting took place that October for the “Nitro World War I Memorial Bridge,” traffic was moved onto it so crews could begin to demolish the old bridge beside it and start building the recently completed second bridge…
