COLDSPRING — On Nov. 12, the Lady Trojans hosted Grapeland in an intense pre-district girls’ basketball game. Although Coldspring had a slow start, they staged an impressive comeback in the final quarter but ultimately fell just one point short of victory.
The first quarter was dominated by Grapeland, who pulled ahead with an 18-8 lead. Coldspring managed to add 5 points in the second quarter, but Grapeland responded with 11 more, extending their lead. By halftime, Grapeland held a commanding 29-13 advantage, with Coldspring trailing by 16 points. Hines led the Lady Trojans in the first half, scoring seven points.
During the halftime break, Coldspring regrouped and emerged determined to close the gap. Slowly but surely, the Lady Trojans began to chip away at Grapeland’s lead. By the start of the fourth quarter, they had narrowed the deficit to 13 points, bringing the score to 38-41. Grapeland fought to maintain their lead, but with just 4:01 left on the clock, Coldspring had brought the score to 38-43…
