Choctaw’s Harter finishes 7th at 3A state; Niceville girls finish sixth

Izzy Harter’s magical run through the cross country postseason concluded Saturday with a 7th-place finish in the 3A state meet at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.

After cruising to Okaloosa County and district titles and finishing 3rd at regionals with consistent splits of 19:16, 18:27 and 18:28 in the respective 5Ks, the Choctawhatchee junior paced all area runners with an 18:41 as Fort Myers senior Masha Dorofeev won it all in 18:05.

Team-wise, Niceville paced area schools with a 6th-place finish in the 32-team field despite an injury to Delaney Diehl and an illness by Riley Marise, and Fort Walton Beach placed 15th as Ponte Vedra won it all. Eleanor Ballard led the Eagles with a 38th-place finish in 19:43, followed by teammates Kaylin Olivarez in 45th in 19:56, Bella Curtis in 52nd in 20:09, Marise in 65th in 20:17, and Kate Tomaschko in 72nd in 20:24…
