Two men were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for a violent crime that included robbery, threats of murder, and extortion. Judge Steve White handed down the sentences on Friday last week, imposing a 13-year sentence on Dominik Lacey and a 10-year sentence on Hayden Thornton for their crimes committed in March of the previous year, according to a report from the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office.
The case involves a victim who was ambushed and robbed at an Elk Grove residence after attempting to rent a room. Dominik Lacey reportedly pinned the victim down, stole his money, and threatened his life with a firearm. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s office stated that both defendants then used the victim’s phone to demand more money from a relative, while continuing to threaten the victim and his family.
Court documents reveal that the defendants became more threatening, using the victim’s phone to steal his remaining funds and intimidate him. They made it clear that refusal to comply would result in the victim’s death.
