NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) – The state says it has reached a multi-million dollar settlement with a company it claims was violating environmental protection laws and potentially impacting not just the air, but also Long Island Sound.

Pike Fuels, formerly Gulf Oil, operated a petroleum storage facility at the New Haven terminal for more than 35 years.

The state alleges during a routine inspection a few years ago, it discovered the company falsified records, including inaccurate emissions reporting, along with failing to inspect its tanks for leaks and even building a new gasoline storage tank without the proper permit…
