NEW HAVEN — Five years ago, Dean Shaffer looked over the boarding list and saw a vaguely familiar name next to his: Grant Jordan.
“We were randomly assigned to be roommates by the school after COVID; I remembered the name and was like, ‘Oh, cool, I’m rooming with a football player,” Shaffer said.
“Which is insane,” Jordan added Tuesday, over lunch in Mory’s Captain’s Room. “It’s crazy to get one or two guys (from the football team) in your college (dorm), but two guys in the same room? … I remember, he just opened the door and said, ‘What’s up, bruh.’ And we’ve been best friends ever since.”…
