Indiana State Police Investigate Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Peru

PERU — On Monday, Nov. 18, at approximately 5 p.m., Troopers from the Indiana State Police Peru District and Deputies from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle in Peru.

A preliminary investigation by Trooper Russell revealed a 2007 Ford Focus driven by James Sturgill, 53, Wabash, was traveling eastbound on Wabash Road, east of Paw Paw Pike in Peru, IN. Sturgill’s vehicle struck a pedestrian, who was identified to be Beverly Bowen, 80, Peru.

Despite life-saving measures, Bowen was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. Notification to the family of the deceased has been made. Sturgill did not sustain any injuries…
