Rochester Public Schools approves new superintendent contract

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KIMT) – At Tuesday’s Rochester Public Schools Board meeting Superintendent Kent Pekel’s contract was unanimously approved.

His three-year contract will include the following annual salaries:

  • 2025-26 school year: $242,000
  • 2026-27 school year: $252,000
  • 2027-28 school year: $262,000

Pekel’s contract also includes a monthly vehicle allowance of $400, which totals $4,800 per year.

Pekel’s contract also includes a tax sheltered annuity (TSA) option. He can choose how much of his salary he wants to receive as salary and how much he wants to have placed in a TSA. The district will match his contributions to a qualifying TSA dollar-for-dollar, up to $2,750 per school year…
