ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque has been catching, and killing, pigeons. It came to light at Monday night’s city council meeting when a councilor grilled the city about why there were traps on city buildings. KRQE News 13 spoke with the councilor about the practice it seems not even council knew about.

The city has spent thousands of taxpayer dollars on a contract to trap and kill the birds on city buildings. “So, we’re attracting wildlife onto city property to kill them,” said Albuquerque City Councilor Tammy Fiebelkorn on Monday night.
“The intent is that while the pigeon is trapped there, they are not starved, they are treated humanely they have food and they have water, until the time has come for them to be disposed of,” responded Nathan Martinez, director of the City of Albuquerque’s General Services Department…
