VICTORIA , Texas — The Victoria Independent School District (VISD) Board of Trustees has officially appointed Ms. Sheila Collazo as the district’s new Superintendent of Schools. The decision, finalized during the board’s regular meeting on November 21, followed the completion of a state-mandated 21-day waiting period after Collazo was named the sole finalist for the position.
Ms. Collazo comes to VISD with an extensive background in educational leadership, most recently serving as Deputy Superintendent for Somerset Independent School District near San Antonio. During her eight-year tenure, Somerset ISD earned an “A” rating under the Texas Accountability System, underscoring her proven ability to improve academic outcomes and foster excellence.
Her career spans roles at the state, regional, and district levels, including experience as an elementary and secondary educator. Additionally, she has spearheaded numerous initiatives for the Texas Education Agency aimed at advancing educational practices statewide.
