Hartford city clerk dies month after hit-and-run

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford’s city clerk has died a month after a driver hit him and then drove off, according to an announcement on Friday.

“Earlier today, we learned that our Town and City Clerk, Noel McGregor, tragically passed away as a result of injuries sustained during a hit-and-run incident on October 22,” an announcement from the city reads. “The City of Hartford has suffered a great loss, and Noel’s unwavering dedication to Hartford and its residents will carry on in the heart and soul of the Town and City Clerk’s office. Together, we express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, and will honor his memory in spirit of public service.”

Police continue to search for the driver who hit him as McGregor was walking on Route 2. Investigators believe the suspect’s vehicle is a blue Jeep Cherokee between the model years of 2015 and 2023. The Jeep would have a damaged right side mirror and right side door handle…
