Women’s Diving Sets Team Record, Swim Finishes Strong at Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas — Both the Cal Poly swimming and diving teams had fantastic, record-setting days at their respective invitationals, highlighted by Drew Huston and Evan Yoo picking up new top program marks alongside women’s diving placing third in the team event.

Abigail Leight, Ava Lazovsky, and Shayna Gayer held their own in the Platform dives on Friday to record a 249.95 team score. Not only did that beat last year’s season-high team score at the MPSF Championship by over 28 points, but Friday’s finish was far and away Cal Poly women’s diving’s top all-time result.

Leight and Lazovksy easily enjoyed the finest dives of their true freshmen seasons as Leight scored a 195.60 in the preliminary round, good for the 2nd best Platform mark in program history. At the same time, Lazovsky had 186.40 in the final round to get into that top-5 list with the 5th spot…
