- Patrick Mahomes fined $14,000 for ‘violent gesture’ while celebrating touchdown: report (foxnews.com)
The NFL has been penalizing players for using gun-like hand gestures in celebrations. Despite this, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs recently made the gesture and was fined $14,000.
The league has become concerned about the increasing frequency of these celebrations and has imposed stricter penalties. In the past, there were no fines for “obscene gestures,” but this season there have been 17.
Mahomes’ fine comes after a loss that ended the Chiefs’ undefeated streak. He was previously fined $50,000 last year for verbally abusing an official.
The Chiefs will face the Carolina Panthers this Sunday, hoping to bounce back from their first defeat.
