Ferry Travel Chaos Looms: Washington State Ferry Braces for Thanksgiving Rush with Surge of Riders

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) expects nearly 300,000 passengers to board state ferries during the Thanksgiving holiday, warning travelers of long lines and extended wait times.

Westbound trips toward islands on Nov. 27-28 and eastbound returns on Nov. 29-30 are projected to be the busiest. Travelers can reduce delays by opting for early-morning or late-night sailings or by walking or biking aboard.
