John Amos Honored at Memorial Service

A memorial service was held in East Orange, New Jersey, to celebrate the life of actor John Amos. The service featured performances by Monifah, Karen Poole, and Tone “TL” Cross.

Amos’s former “Good Times” castmates BernNaddette Stanis and Ralph Carter spoke at the event. Lauryn Hill, Rahzel, and Violet Palmer were among the celebrities in attendance.

The Mayor of East Orange announced plans to name the football field at East Orange High School and a street after Amos.

Amos’s daughter, Shannon, said her father was given a proclamation by the mayor. She also revealed that she was not informed of his death until October, when her brother, K.C. Amos, announced it in the media.

Despite past sibling disputes, the memorial service brought people together to honor John Amos’s legacy.
