Ottawa County’s legal counsel would get $250,000 lump sum under new proposal

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI — Ottawa County’s corporate counsel would get a $250,000 lump sum “pre-payment” under a revised contract, but critics say it’s an “abuse of taxpayer funds.”

Ottawa County commissioners on Tuesday, Dec. 10 are set to vote an amended contract with Kallman Legal Group.

If approved, Kallman would receive an immediate $250,000 payment, then credit the county back about $25,000 per month for expected work through September 2025. The credit would be effective as of December…
