VIDEOS: TWRA bodycam footage shows harrowing rescues during Sept. 27 flooding

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) is sharing bodycam footage of officers conducting daring rescues in Washington County during the devastating Sept. 27 flooding that came from Hurricane Helene.

The TWRA said officers responding to the Unicoi County area were diverted to Washington County when residents around Dave Fender Road pled for help, stating their neighbors and their pets were trapped in their homes.

Lt. Jeff Prater, Officer Matt Cameron, Maj. Shelley Hammonds and Officer Justin Pinkston conducted swift water rescues of residents in that neighborhood, one of those including a man and two dogs who were treading water and trapped in a home…
