K-9 catches two passengers with crack cocaine during traffic stop

An Orlando man and a Leesburg woman were arrested on drug charges when a K-9 sniffed out crack cocaine during a traffic stop.

An officer observed a black four-door passenger vehicle, in which two of passengers were later identified as 63-year-old Ricky Allen and 62-year-old Wanda Irene Reitsma, traveling westbound on Main Street around 1:48 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The car did not have a visible tag light illuminating the license plate from a distance of 50 feet.

The officer got behind the vehicle, and the driver made a sudden right-hand turn into the Sunshine Laundry parking lot, located at 2304 W. Main St. The vehicle turned its signal on about 5ft from the parking lot, failing to signal turn appropriately at a minimum of 100ft. As a result, the officer conducted a traffic stop, the report said.

The officer identified the driver by his FL license. Allen, the front seat passenger, was sitting with a red handbag near his feet on the floorboard and a blue duffle-style bag. He was making furtive movements, appearing to be under the influence of an unknown substance, the report said…
