Soul Santa is coming to town.
Free events featuring a Santa Claus of color will be held from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Contois Auditorium, Burlington City Hall; JAM – Junction Arts & Media in White River Junction; and the Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum at the Energy Innovation Center in Rutland. Activities will include a craft lab, “reindeer games,” a hot chocolate bar and the opportunity to pose for photos with Soul Santa.
The event is organized by the Burlington-based New Alpha Missionary Baptist Church . Soul Santa “will provide many local children (and their parents and grandparents, too) with the experience of the first BIPOC Santa they have ever seen,” Wynea Buford, the church’s youth leader and co-organizer of Soul Santa Saturday in Vermont, wrote in an email to the Burlington Free Press. “He represents to children of all colors that Santa is inclusive of everyone.”…
