KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — For more than a decade, Sharon Leinart was reported missing in Knoxville by her sister who had not heard from her in months. Years later, a man has been charged with murder in Leinart’s disappearance, but her body has never been found.
Earlier this month, Randall Lee Rose, 61, was indicted on one count of first-degree murder in Leinart’s death by a Knox County grand jury.
“No-body” homicide cases are cases often start as missing person cases, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. While there are many reasons someone can go missing that don’t involve criminal activity, sometimes investigators find indications that a missing person case may be a homicide case.

Rose, who is currently serving a life sentence for a murder that happened in Jackson, Tennessee, in 2021, shared with police he was involved in a Knoxville murder, the Knoxville Police Department reported.
