Both teams are coming into this limping, but they’re here. Western Michigan was rolling right along before a tough stretch in November. It took a win over Eastern Michigan in the final regular season game to get bowl eligible. Major Applewhite’s South Alabama team shocked Louisiana and beat Southern Miss to get to six wins, but couldn’t hold up against Texas State a few weeks ago. This is the fifth bowl game for the Jaguars, losing the first three before taking down Eastern Michigan 59-10 in last year’s 68 Ventures Bowl. Western Michigan is just 2-9 all-time in bowls, but it won its last one – the 2021 Quick Lane over Nevada.
