As we approach the end of 2024, I’ve noticed that it’s been a really bad year for locally-owned breweries in Connecticut, and I just found out that a couple more around the state have just announced their permanent closure by the end of the year.
Do you enjoy drinking beer? I enjoyed it very much in my 20’s into my 30’s, but I’m 55 now, and alcohol takes too much away during the intoxication for me to enjoy anymore. I never really got into the micro-brew scene, so I’m very lost in the beer aisles at package stores. One local brewery that I have frequented and very much enjoy every time I go is Woodbury Brewing Company in Woodbury. The beer is good, but even more so, this is a venue that keeps the live music scene in Connecticut alive. That’s what I really love about locally-owned breweries, they bring in local talent to hone their chops.
Well, another one has just announced over their social media that it’s all over soon, Great Falls Brewing Company on Main Street in Canaan, one of the only breweries in Northern Litchfield County, is shutting down for good by the end of the year. Last week, Aspetuck Brew Lab in Bridgeport, and Hop Meadow Brewing in Avon both announced that they would close for good by the end of 2024. The biggest loss of 2024 for Connecticut?
